Buying Flooring Online — How to Choose With Confidence (Samples, Box Sizes, Delivery)

Quick answer: Buying flooring online is simple: order samples first, measure your rooms and add about 10%, use the product page calculator to get the number of boxes, add any trims or moisture barrier, and choose delivery. We call you to arrange a delivery time, and delivery usually takes 1–2 business days in metro areas and 2–5 business days regionally. Someone needs to be home to receive the pallet.

Step 1: Narrow it down

Start with how you live:

  • Kids and pets? Look at hybrid with a thicker wear layer.

  • Dry bedrooms on a budget? Laminate is great value.

Step 2: Order samples

This is the most important step. You can order up to three free samples with $19.90 flat postage Australia-wide.

When they arrive:

  1. Put them on the floor, not up against the window.

  2. Look at them in morning, midday and evening light.

  3. Hold them next to your benchtops, cabinets and walls.

  4. Let the family vote.

Step 3: Measure

Measure each room (length × width), add them together and add about 10% extra for cuts (15% for herringbone). Our guide makes it easy: how much flooring do I need?

Step 4: Work out the boxes

Every product page shows how many m² are in a box, and the calculator works out how many boxes you need. Always round up — and keep a spare box for future repairs.

Step 5: Add the extras

  • Moisture barrier — our black-roll moisture barrier adds extra protection for hybrid laid on concrete.

  • Underlay — not needed for hybrids with an attached underlay; laminate needs one.

  • Trims — colour-matched scotia, stair nosing, end caps, T-mouldings and reducers.

Step 6: Delivery

  • Metro: usually 1–2 business days.

  • Regional: usually 2–5 business days.

  • We call first to arrange a time that suits you.

  • Someone must be home to receive the pallet.

  • Make sure there's clear, safe access for the truck.

  • Unloading depends on the carrier — we'll let you know what to expect.

Once it arrives, keep the boxes flat, dry and inside.

Use your own installer, DIY, or have us install if you're in one of our service areas. Read supply-only vs supply and install.
