Engineered Timber Flooring — Real Wood, Built to Last
Engineered timber flooring is the premium choice for homeowners who want the warmth and authenticity of real wood — without the limitations of solid hardwood in Australia's variable climate. A genuine hardwood veneer on top, a stable plywood core underneath — you get the beauty of real timber with far better dimensional stability, more installation options, and a more accessible price. At Reno Flooring, we supply and install premium engineered timber from $89/m² across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, and Grafton.

What is Engineered Timber Flooring?
Engineered timber is built in layers. The top layer is a genuine slice of real hardwood — typically 3–6mm thick — in species like blackbutt, spotted gum, or European oak. Beneath it, multiple cross-directional plywood layers form a stable core that resists the expansion and contraction that causes solid timber to warp, gap, and cup. A stabilising backing layer completes the board.
The cross-layered core is the key innovation. It means engineered timber can be floated, glued, or nailed down; used over concrete slabs; and installed in conditions where solid timber simply isn't suitable — coastal homes, renovations over existing floors, and rooms with underfloor heating.

Why choose Engineered Timber Flooring?
-
Genuine hardwood top layer — real timber surface you can see, feel, and eventually sand and refinish
-
Dimensionally stable — the plywood core resists warping, cupping, and gapping that affects solid timber
-
Multiple installation methods — float, glue-down, or nail/staple; more flexibility than solid hardwood
-
Suitable over concrete — can be floated or glued directly to concrete slabs
-
Better for coastal & humid climates — handles Australia's humidity and temperature variation far better than solid timber
-
Refinishable — the hardwood wear layer can be sanded and refinished 2–3 times over its lifetime
-
More affordable than solid timber — comparable look and feel at a lower price per m²
-
Wide range of species and finishes — Australian hardwoods, European oak, American white oak, and more
